Carbon Steel Casting Alloys
A steel alloy called carbon steel has carbon as its primary alloying constituent. Cast alloy steels have been created in order to function in environments needing higher pressures, wear resistances, and higher strength with enhanced toughness and hardenability. The mechanical qualities of this alloy are dictated by the quantity of carbon present; the higher the percentage, the harder and stronger the alloy becomes through heat treating. Carbon steels are used in a variety of applications because they may be treated to obtain a wide range of qualities.
Investment casting uses both mid-carbon steel and low-carbon steel. Excellent ductility, strength, and wear resistance are provided by mid carbon steel. Heat treatment can also be used to harden and temper the metal. Although low carbon steel is easily formed, heat treatment cannot strengthen it. The surface harness of the alloy can also be increased by carburizing.
Precision Investment Casting Using Carbon Steel
Investment cast parts made of various alloys, including carbon steel, are offered by Siddhalaxmi Engg. Tight tolerances and sophisticated designs are our areas of expertise. We offer a number of grades that adhere to MIL, AMS, and ASTM specifications for our air-melt alloys, which are managed by a master heat system with separate lines for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
For any carbon steel casting project, you should take the application, machinability, weldability, strength requirements, formability, and corrosion resistance into account when choosing a grade.
Please get in touch with us to discuss your needs if you need help choosing the ideal alloy for your precision investment casting project.
Low Carbon Steel Casting
Low carbon steel is renowned for its ductility, weldability, and machinability and has a lower carbon content. As compared to other steels, it is softer, has a lower tensile strength, and cannot be heat treated. Typical uses for carbon steel casting include fasteners, bolts, shafts, rods, pins, assemblies, and more in the automotive and construction industries.
For investment casting, we offer the following low carbon steels:
WCB, Armco Iron, 1010, 1020, 4130, 8620, 8630
Mid Carbon Steel Casting
Mid-carbon steel has a medium carbon content and is renowned for its resistance to wear. It is capable of being reinforced by heat treatment and is harder than low carbon steel. For military and defence purposes, mid-carbon steel investment casting alloys are frequently utilised for things like engine parts, couplings, crankshafts, aircraft tubes, and guns.
A variety of mid carbon steel alloys are poured by us, including:
1040, 4140, 4340, 6150, 8640, CA6NM
